Accessibility

Last updated 1 October 2026

This site aims at WCAG 2.1 Level AA. What follows is what was actually built and actually checked, not a statement of intent.

Contrast

Every text colour on the site was measured against the background it sits on, by script rather than by eye, and every combination clears 4.5 to 1 for normal text or 3 to 1 for large text. Gold is used as a decorative line and fill on the cream sections, never as a letterform, because gold on cream measures 2.1 to 1 and would fail.

The wordmark over the hero video was measured against the actual video pixels through a canvas, with the scrim gradients composited on top, rather than against the page background.

Motion

The homepage opens with a short camera move that settles onto a finished set of nails. It holds the page still for about five seconds while it runs.

Keyboard

A Skip to content link is the first thing in the tab order. Every link and control is reachable by keyboard and shows a visible gold focus ring. There are no custom widgets, no modals and no keyboard traps, because the site is made of links and text.

Screen readers

Headings run in order. Every photograph carries alt text describing the nail shape, the colour and the setting rather than repeating the caption. The two decorative hero layers are hidden from assistive technology. Each section is labelled.

Text and zoom

Type is set in relative units and reflows down to a 320 pixel viewport. Zooming to 200 percent does not clip or overlap any content.

Where it falls short

Two honest gaps:
